NatureMill composters are energy efficient, using 5 kwh per month (about the same as a typical night light) for a cost of about $0.50 per month, depending on your local power rates. NatureMill uses far less energy than is consumed hauling the same amount of waste in a diesel garbage truck!

We recommend adding sawdust in a 1:5 ratio everytime you put a cup or more of food waste in the composter. Thus, if you put 5 cups of food waste into the composter, you want to put one cup of sawdust at the same time, and one teaspoon of baking soda. This helps reduce odor and maintain optimal moisture. It really makes a difference!
