  Nasal Cleansing (Neti) Pot
neti pot nasal cleansing pot Also known as a "neti pot", this device is used to gently cleanse the nasal passages. It helps to clear the nostrils to free breathing, to remove excess mucous, to reduce pollen or allergens in the nasal passages, and to relieve nasal dryness.

The design features an easy-grip handle, a better nozzle seal, and balance for ease of use. The water chamber opening allows for easy cleaning. It is made of heavy-duty, lead-free ceramic (not plastic) and coated with a food-grade sealant glaze. It is dishwasher safe.

Use the nasal cleansing pot to:
  • Clear out mucus and help reduce nasal congestion
  • Cleanse and rid the sinus cavities of allergens, irritants, and contaminants
  • Treat chronic sinusitis and allergic rhinitis
  • Help prevent common colds and flu
  • Relieve nasal dryness and improve breathing
  • Reduce cough caused by post-nasal drip
Note: You should not use a neti pot if you are unable to blow your nose or if you are suffering from a nosebleed. Use by children should be supervised. As with your toothbrush, you should consider this a "single user" device. We recommend that you not share your neti pot with others.

Full instructions are included with the nasal cleansing pot. Abbreviated instructions follow. The whole process should take just a couple of minutes.
  • Prepare a saline solution. Mix about ¼ teaspoon of non-iodized salt with 1 cup of warm water in the nasal cleansing pot. Alternatively, you can buy nasal saline solution from a pharmacy.
  • Perform Nasal Cleansing. While leaning over a sink, tilt your head to one side and insert the nasal cleansing pot nozzle in the higher nostril. The water will flow into the upper nostril and out the lower nostril. This step takes some practice, finding a comfortable position that works well, but it quickly becomes second nature. Adjust the flow rate by how high you hold the pot. Breathe through your mouth during this step.
  • Complete the Process. When finished with the nasal rinsing, gently blow your nose on a tissue to rid your nasal passages of excess moisture. Rinse out the pot with warm water. You may want to wash it in your dishwasher periodically.
The neti pot has been featured on Oprah. Oddly enough, it also featured prominently in an episode of Six Feet Under!
