Guayaki Yerba Mate |

Guayaki Sustainable Rainforest teas are made with organic, rainforest-grown, fair trade yerba mate (“MAH-tay”). The name Guayakí (“gwy-uh-KEE”) honors the Aché Guayakí people who live in the sub-tropical rainforests of Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. They grow and hand-pick yerba mate below the shade of its native rainforest canopy. Forest grown mate is environmentally sustainable in the long term and provides for more income per acre than cattle or agricultural products such as corn, soy or wheat.
Yerba mate naturally contains vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants which may contribute to the "good energy" people feel when drinking yerba mate. The teas have a low-to-moderate level of caffeine similar to green tea or cola, but lower than black coffee.
The teas come in a variety of flavors. Guayakí comes in boxes made from 100% recycled paper (at least 55% post-consumer content). The boxes, bags, and tea are all biodegradable and return happily to nature.
